Charles Wright & the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band

It’s been a while since we shared some multimedia fun with you all, and we had another customer ask us for a copy of our playlist today (spurred by a Charles Wright & the Watts Song) so I thought it was about time, and picked out a couple tracks from YouTube.

We’re sort of unable to present a total playlist to anyone, since there’s over 1600 individually selected songs on there, but we’ll try from time to time to highlight favorites here. We’d highly recommend ANYTHING by Charles Wright and the Watts, and their records span some wide territory, but for most, the essential record is In the Jungle, Babe, which contains their big hit Love Land, one of those songs that for me, at least, can dash away the worst of blues in about two bars’ time. It’s one of the sixty tracks I spun at my sendoff DJ night at Schubas last year, when I did my best to distill my entire 2,000 album record collection into four hours of good times. This one worked.

If you are interested in a copy (artist and track listing) of our playlist, we’re trying to figure out the best way to package it for email. Some of our playlists, such as Sunday Brunch (gospel & roots-heavy) or Saturday Brunch (Northern Soul and funk-heavy) are fairly specialized, and not too large, and can be emailed if you’re interested.
