Gullah Family Dinner with Chef Benjamin Dennis

We are pleased to announce a special dinner to cap off Chef Benjamin Dennis’ residency at Big Jones! Chef BJ will host a family dinner Sunday evening, August 19 in which he cooks some of the most treasured dishes from his Gullah heritage, served family style. Chef Paul and Bar Manager Blake Ivester will develop some complementary cocktails. Good people will gather, Gullah and Geechie cuisine will be served family style, and Chef Benjamin Dennis will hold court, offering his words of what Gullah culture is and what it means today, and ponder the future of a people and culture under encroachment by development and gentrification, not just of their land, but of Southern cuisine.

According to tradition, service will be family style. The price of the dinner is $45 per person plus tax an gratuity and includes a reception with punch and small bites. We will eat and drink well. The menu will be announced shortly.
