We are over the moon to announce this next event in our gust chef/author series: La Cocina is coming to Chicago with their new book, and we are celebrating with a dinner at Big Jones! Wednesday, July 31 we will be joined by Executive Dishwasher Caleb Zigas and Chefs Dayana Salazar, Mama Lamees, and Nite Yun from La Cocina in celebration of their beautiful new book, We Are La Cocina: Recipes in Pursuit of the American Dream.
La Cocina is an incubator kitchen which provides working space, market access, and technical assistance to people whom they call “natural entrepreneurs” – immigrant communities and people who work with food. The nature of their work has led to a fantastically diverse group of people from all over the world cultivating the beginnings of their food businesses in La Cocina.
We are La Cocina is packed with dozens of fascinating people and over one hundred delicious recipes which jump from the pages, and the stories they have to tell show us America at its best, a place where dreams can be hatched and made real, whoever you are and wherever you’re from. We’ll let the chefs and dishwashers tell their own stories, and we hope you’ll plan to attend to hear them. The recipes are wonderful, and we’ll prepare them faithfully under the watch of La Cocina’s entourage.
As has become customary, we are including the book in the price of dinner, and service will be family style. These guest chef events always attract a congenial crowd, good vibes abound, stories are told, and the food and drink are fulfilling. They also always sell out, so please, purchase your ticket today through Tock. You can purchase tickets here. To purchase tickets as a couple, buy a single ticket, and you will have the opportunity to add a +1 for your second guest before checkout.
